Can you kill creatures in Subnautica 2?

Answer first

No traditional weapon / kill loop exists for hostile fauna, including Leviathans, in current Early Access. Most creatures flee after a Survival Multitool hit; Sonic Resonator pulses can briefly stun some, but neither is lethal. Small edible fish are a separate collectible / food case, so this is not a claim that every creature is immortal. Plan routes, flares, terrain cover, and vehicles instead of combat.

Steps

  1. Do not expect a knife / gun kill loop — EA design is evasion and deterrence, not lethal combat.
  2. Against most small predators: a Survival Multitool strike can force a recoil/flee window (post Adaptive Measures update); use it to create space, not to farm.
  3. Sonic Resonator pulses can stun creatures for 10 seconds — still not a kill.
  4. Against Collectors / open-water threats, use Distraction Flares, Camouflage, terrain LOS breaks, Tadpole speed, and surface breach before contact. Once a grab starts, do not expect Camouflage to free you; that former escape behavior was fixed.
  5. Treat Leviathans as zone hazards and scan targets, not boss fights. Vanilla Early Access does not provide lethal combat.
