Collector Leviathan: locations and avoidance
Answer first
Two aggressive Collectors in current EA reports: one over Karakorum Metal Farms and one in the Sparse Plains trench (~700 m east near Tadpole Depot). You cannot kill them — avoid contact with Tadpole, Distraction Flares, Camouflage, terrain cover, and a planned surface route. If a grab starts, this guide does not promise a reliable escape action. Patrols shift between builds, so use terrain and beaconed landmarks rather than a fixed safe route.
Field notes
| Materials | Distraction Flares |
|---|---|
| Tools | Tadpole, Camouflage / Cavitation Muffler |
| Depth / zone | Sparse Plains / Metal Farms open water |
Steps
- Do not cross Sparse Plains / open chasm early without a Tadpole and a beaconed return heading.
- Expect sonar pulse then grab lunges — break line of sight with terrain; empty water is not an escape plan.
- Before contact, use Distraction Flares, Camouflage, the Cavitation Muffler, terrain cover, and a planned surface route. The former Camouflage grab escape was fixed, so no reliable post-grab action is promised here.
- Do not count on table-like rocks as a guaranteed escape; tentacles may still reach if you linger.
- Community depth tips (e.g. hugging floor bands near Metal Farms) vary by build — verify in your patch before trusting a depth number.

Version differences and limitations
- Exact patrol radii and safe depth bands vary between builds; rely on movement and terrain cues rather than one coordinate.
